Hi, Carpenters,
We will be gathering in Hustonville, KY, in 32 days for the 2006 Carpenter-Zimmerman Reunion. So far, it looks as though we will be having between 50 and 70 participants.
Very Important! Tomorrow will be the last day that we will be getting the special rate at Hampton Inn. If you are interested in staying there, better not wait.
Joe and I have been working on name tags and fine-tuning the agenda. Joseph is putting last-minute touch-ups on the website. It looks as though our long-awaited reunion is going to happen!
Remember to bring family artifacts--photographs, Bibles, quilts, scrapbooks, tatting, etc. Joseph is bringing a scanner so that he can scan photographs and Bible records, etc., which can be put on a CD. I think there will be a minimal charge for each CD just to cover expenses for anyone who may wish to order one. Photographs fade, Bibles fall apart, but these CDs will last forever--a lasting record of our family.
Remember the giant wall chart we had at Shaker Village in 2001. There are over 8,000 names in the data base. This is too much material for us to put on paper so Joseph and Joe are working out details to have the information projected from a laptop. We really need to have your input with the information that has been recorded. We are asking everyone to check your branch of the family tree for completeness and correctness.
We continue to encourage each Reunion participant to think of stories to share during the Reunion, especially on Saturday afternoon.
The picnic on Sunday will be at Hustonville's Picnic Shelter on the right as you come into town and will be shared with the folks at Hustonville Christian Church who will bring potluck from Saturday's lunch. My husband is especially hopeful that there will be an extra piece of pie or so left over.
Again, please call or email Joe Clarkson or me if you have concerns or questions.
I can't wait for the Reunion--to see those of you I have met and to meet new cousins!

Countdown to 2006 Carpenter-Zimmerman Union
Hello, Carpenter Descendants,
As of this moment, we have 59 registrations for the Reunion that will begin in 33 days.
Important! If you plan to come to the Reunion and stay at the Hampton Inn, those special rates will expire on May 15--in two days.
If you have had any problems with the registration, there were new people on the desk last week who did not have the entire picture. That has been all straightened out now.
I spoke with Allan Leach last week and he is ready for the Carpenters to come to Hustonville. We will have maps of the area and for the tours for each of you this time. It is still not definite that we will have two tours since there are fewer of us than anticipated when we did initial planning. Please email or call if you have any questions.
I guess you are getting tired of this old song--but we have had very little response from any of you with family stories, recipes, history, etc.. Remember, if you want to hear Carpenter stories from other folks, you might want to think about sharing one or two of your stories.
Do you like to sing, play an instrument, or have another talent. There will be opportunities for this at the Shelter at Old Ft. Harrod State Park on Saturday. If you have folding chairs, think about bringing a couple along if you are going to be driving. Those benches at the Park can get pretty hard.
Sunday's picnic after church will be at the Picnic Shelter in Hustonville. Some of the church people will be sharing potluck with us.
I am getting excited about the Reunion. It is going to be so good to see all of you.

recent additions
I added the Will of Elizabeth Boyer Carpenter, and updated the style a little of Conrad Carpenter's will as well. I changed the colors a bit to make the scans and the text stand out more.
I also found some old photographs that I believe were sent to me by Kathleen Carpenter Griffin. I set up a temp page for her to view those at:
http://www.carpenter-zimmerman.org/reunion/unidentified/
Earlier today I removed the 'Simple Firewall' hack from the forum. This was the little gray ENTER button that people had to press to get into the forums. It was messing up the links for activation, and also created some confusion.
On a brighter note, I think some of the genealogists might be finally warming up to the web site and the forums.
