To: Joseph W. Carpenter

Hello Cousins!

I have lost contact with several members because their email addresses and phone numbers are out of date on their FTDNA personal contact info.

Changes and updates can be made on your FTDA personal results page. But, only you can do that.

FTDNA has put more restrictions on Group Administrators access, but allowing the user more flexibility to designate the level of contact. You have several setting options for that. The default is read only. If you want us to update your info or to act for you, you need to change that default to a higher and more appropriate setting.

In addition, beneficiary information is now needed. You need to provide a name and email for your beneficiary. You can designate the Carpenter Cousins Group Administrators as beneficiaries.

Please update your FTDNA personal result page for contact information, beneficiary and Group Administrator settings.

If you have any questions, please email John R Carpenter at: jrcrin001@cox.net

Sincerely,

Carpenter Cousins Y-DNA Project Administrators

Updates to Reunion site

There has been little active interest in this website for some time. In spite of the fact that I rarely hear from any of you, I have decided to keep this site up for now.

I recently updated the News portion of the site. This may not change the way you see things much, but it is a substantial improvement in stability and security.

The original site was an HTML hand-crafted site, and later I added the WordPress to host the news section. That is still how it appears today, seven years later. I have long intended to update it, but the lack of apparent interest by other family members just makes it easy to keep putting it off.

At some point, I plan to update the theme. This theme was nice when it was chosen, but has not been updated in some time. I need to find one that can host the navigation links for the entire site.

Very slowly, as I have time and interest, I plan to apply the new theme, then gradually invert all of the content on this site so that it will all fit into the WordPress site. The handcrafted HTML will be deleted once all that work is done.

Committing to WordPress will make the entire thing easier to update, maintain and backup, and will make it possible to share some of the tasks related to updating this site. If any of you genealogy buffs out there would like to have a guest author role, I would be happy to accommodate you.

IF I see that kind of interest, I will be motivated to spend more time on this project again, and can expand and update even more of the site to make the site easier to navigate and read.

So... let me hear from you... How many people actually care about this site now? Send me mail if you do.
