He's back in the land of the living

Howdy folks,

With a few exceptions, I have been mostly absent from this genealogy website project for about a year or so.

My daughter, Meaghan, was diagnosed in 2008 with a rare autoimmune disorder called Churg-Strauss Syndrome vasculitis (CSS). Vasculitis disease is basically inflamed blood vessels. She suffered some nerve damage during the initial attack. CSS is incurable, but there are treatments. If you like, you can learn more about vasculitis here: www.nmvasculitis.org. For a basic understanding of the condition, see "What Is Vasculitis?".

While her condition is much improved, and certainly does not take up all my time, her diagnosis date roughly corresponds with the time when I stopped keeping up with certain other things, like this family website.

Now I know the world has not stopped turning, and I do apologize to a few of you who sent mail to the carpenter-zimmerman address. I changed Email accounts and did not get around to looking at that older account so I missed you guys completely. Now I am back on track and have reintegrated that C-Z Email address into my main Email routine.

The good news is that I will be working now to make the carpenter-zimmerman.org site even better. I found a new tool that should not only make the upkeep easy, but also it will give you easier access to different parts of the family tree GEDCOM as well. It will also support just ONE password for everything, so that will be a welcome improvement.

So, in the coming days and weeks, I will reach out and touch base with those of you who deserve a much belated reply. I will add any new information to this blog, and to the website where appropriate. As that is going on, I will also be slowly but surely be working on the new site design. I will also add a new mailing list to replace the forums. Look for an invitation to "Google Groups" which will power the new mailing list.

Once all that is well underway, I should be able to post some preview screenshots as I make progress on the redesigned website. Since I work on this project after hours, it will likely take several months to get the new site working right. I will know more about that once I am fully into it.

As always, if anyone has photos, or stories, or research, or recipes, or whatever... please do share it with the rest of us via the carpenter-zimmerman.org website. Just send me an Email and let me know what you have to share.

Thanks for your support, and your patience.
