Many changes this week

The website has been getting another face lift as I work to better integrate several new technologies.
1. You will see tremendous improvements in the new Articles page, and the Email Form. Both are easier to use, and easier for me to manage. 2. I now have the ability to post articles, then also share that out so that the original authors can retain the ability to edit and add to articles online if they want to. 3. I discontinued the Traditions page, which was sort of lost anyway, and made a new page for Recipes. I integrated the Stories into the Articles page. As the site grows, I will adjust that again if necessary. Again, the idea is to make it all easier to view and navigate. You can get to everything from the masthead at the top without getting lost.

The Genealogy page and the Reunion2006 pages have not yet been updated. The Genealogy page will be updated soon, and I may move the Reunion2006 page to a new subpage called Archives. That way the information will remain available, but it is time to let that become history.

I have an article on Cemetery Maintenance, that will be posted soon. If I get the SMugMug service discussed below, then I will link those images in.

Finally, I am looking hard at a great image database service called SmugMug http://www.smugmug.com/browse/Genealogy to get an idea what it might offer us. This would allow all of the features that I want to provide, and eliminate the storage issues. It would also incur an additional expense, so I will have to think about it. If I decide to do this, I will organize all photos given to me and make them available to the website. This could be a great thing.

Mary Ann Hormuth and Kathleen Carpenter Griffin The image to the left is of Mary Ann Hormuth and Kathleen Carpenter Griffin. This photo was taken by Elizabeth mae Knight, who kindly sent her photos to me on CD and now has a gallery in our new Phot Gallery. This is just one example of how it might work. The image to the left resides in my SmugMug account, then I linked to it from the LiveJournal. Smug Mug is a very attractive service and would solve several problems with one solution.

More later.
