I joined the Y-DNA project to help confirm the male decendancy of the Carpenter line. The more people who join this project, then more confident the results will be. I am a descendant of George Zimmerman through George Carpenter Jr. and also John I. The Y-DNA results showed a strong result for my having descended from Switzerland. Beyond that, the genetic information was somewhat complicated.
I am attempting to gain a better understanding of all this now, and will report later in more detail. I can say already that there is a strong case for the connection to Switzerland. There are three people in the project with a genetic drift of 1, which means we are definitely related. Now if more Carpenter male descendants will join the project, we can increase the confidence in this result.
