Medical History Article

Some of you may have read the story on our articles page about how George "Station" Carpenter is reputed to have been in attendance as the historic surgery that led to Doctor Ephraim McDowell gaining reknown for having performed the first abdominal surgery.

I have been in touch with Alberta Moynahan, the genealogist at McDowell House Museum, and she has promised to send me some materials. Perhaps she will provide evidence that will help to clarify the facts of the story.

I have also asked for permission to continue using the image that is posted in the article now. It is a painting that was commissioned to commemorate the historic event that may have been attended by our ancestor.
